The Molybdenum Market Forum gathered molybdenum and ferro-molybdenum producers, traders, stainless steel mills and other related bodies from around the world to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector as a result of molybdenum’s role in sustainable development arising from global energy demand, industrialization and urbanization.

Sierra Gorda and Traxys Enter Exclusive Americas Pact

DANA POINT, CALIFORNIA 27 October 2013 — Sierra Gorda SCM (“Sierra Gorda”) and Traxys North America LLC (“Traxys”) are pleased to jointly announce the execution of a multi-year, exclusive distribution agreement starting in 2014 in North, Central and South America.

Under the terms of the agreement, Traxys will manage the distribution of all Sierra Gorda molybdenum products for resale to customers in the Americas. In its initial first 5 years of production, Sierra Gorda is estimated to produce an average of 50 million contained pounds per year of molybdenum and will account for 10% of the global metal’s supply.

Mark Crawley, Senior Vice President, Commercial for KGHM International, the operator of Sierra Gorda, said, “We are extremely pleased and excited to form this partnership with Traxys. Sierra Gorda will be a world-class, customer-focused supplier for the steel and alloy industry. About The Sierra Gorda Project

The Sierra Gorda Project is a joint venture between KGHM International Ltd., Sumitomo Metal Mining and Sumitomo Corporation. Located less than 4 kilometers from the town of Sierra Gorda, in Region II, Northern Chile, this project has commenced physical construction and pre-stripping in preparation for production in 2014 and under its current plans it will produce an average of 25 Million pounds per annum of molybdenum in concentrate over the life of the mine.
